Appositives

       #দুটি Noun পাশাপাশি বসে একই ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বুঝালে দ্বিতীয়  Noun টিকে  Appositives বলে।

          Our national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, was a self –educated person.

            Arifa Begum, a 15 years old girl, is a punctual to her studies?

Appositives তিন প্রকার-

1.Subjective Appositives:  যে Appositive Subject এর পরে বসে উক্ত Subject সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য প্রদান করে, তাকে Subjective Appositive  বলে। যেমন-

Rafi, a student, reads attentively.

Halima, a high school teacher, is polite.

Arif, a student of class nine, goes to school every day.

Md. Khaled , a publisher, is a gentle man.
Mr. Ahmed, Principal of our college, is a good administrator.

2.Objective Appositives:  যে Appositive Object এর পরে বসে উক্ত Object সম্পর্কে অতিরিক্ত তথ্য প্রদান করে, তাকে Objective Appositive বলে।যেমন-

        

He invited Mr. Mamun, a professor of English.

We invited Mr. Zahid Hasan, a great scientist of Bangladesh.

They discuss M.A. Ershad, a writer of Ecomics.

He invited Mr. Khaled , a professor of English.

They assisted Mr. Ahmed, a bright student.

We have met Mr. Mizanur Rahman, Managing Director of Health Development Project.
We invited Mr. Mesbah, a great physician of Bangladesh. 

    

3. Possessive Appositives:  যে Appositive  Object এর পরে বসে অধিকার প্রকাশ করে, তাকে Possessive Appositive  বলে। যেমন-

We have read Sukanto, the poet’s works.

 I have read Nazrul, the poet’s works.

They read John Keats, the poet’s of poems.

I have read Dickens, the novelist’s works.

You went through Shakespeare, the dramatist’s works.

N.B : অনেক সময় Appositive টি  sentence এর শুরুতে বসতে পারে। এক্ষেত্রে Appositive টি sentence এর শুরুতে বসে এবং যে Noun সম্পর্কে তথ্য প্রদান করে তা তার পরই বসে।

        

A famous novelist, Humayan Ahmed, has consented to attend our function.

A learned man, K. Khan, died in 2016.

The famous novel, David Copperfield, is a classic.

b.      Her sister, a student, reads attentively.

c.       A famous poet, Abdur Rahman came here.

d.      Our English teacher, Lokman Hossain, teaches well.

e.       My friend, Jhon, has got the prize.

f.        Rony’s elder broyher, Awal, is an SI.

g.       Mr Raton, the secretary, of our school is a kind man.

h.       Begum Rokeya , the social reformer, is a kind hearted woman.

i.         Mr. Joy , the Member of Perliament, came to our ceremony.

j.        My brother, Farid Uddin , is an Msc.

k.      Chairman, Mr. Mokbul, wanted to set up a school.

l.         Educated Minister, Dipu Moni, is a well educated person.

m.     Barak Obama , the formerly US president, is a Muslim.

n.       My classmate, Tareq, is a journalist.
