Karim: Hello, Fahim how are you?

Fahim: I am fine thank you. What about you?

Karim: I am fine too. You live in village. So I want to know about advantages of a

            Village life.

Fahim: Excellent. There are no traffic jam, air pollution, sound pollution, road      

            accident in a village.

Karim: Fine . But there are no electricity and better educational institution. The  

             villagers are illiterate person.

Fahim: Though they are illiterate person, they are not heartless like yours. They are

             very simple and honest person.

Karim: You have said absolutely right. We have many disadvantages in a city.

Fahim: I think that we should dispel these disadvantages from our city and village.

             So both places can be a suitable residence for us.

Karim: Thank you.

Adjective & its Classification

Adjective(বিশেষণ)

Adjective: যে শব্দ Noun বা Pronoun এর দোষ, গুন, অবস্থা, সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করে তাকে Adjective বলে।

•  Adjective প্রধানত চার প্রকার:

1.    Adjective of quality

2.  Adjective of quantity

3.  Adjective of Number

4.  Pronominal Adjective

1. Adjective of quality: যে Adjective Noun বা Pronoun এর দোষ, গুন প্রকাশ করে তাকে Adjective of quality বলে।যেমন: Dhaka is a big city.  He is an honest boy.

এখানে big ও honest যথাক্রমে city ও boy Noun গুলো এদের দোষ, গুন, অবস্থার বর্ণনা দিচ্ছে, তাই এগুলো Adjective of quality.

2.  Adjective of Quantity : যে Adjective দিয়ে কোন Noun এর পরিমাণ প্রকাশ পায় তাকে Adjective of Quantity বলে। যেমন: Give me some rice. There is a little milk in the glass. I need much money. এখানে some, little, much এই Adjective গুলো rice, milk, money Noun গুলোর পরিমাণ নির্দেশ করছে বলে এগুলো Adjective of Quantity.

3. Adjective of Number or Numeral Adjective: যে Adjective দিয়ে কোন Noun এর সংখ্যা প্রকাশ পায় তাকে Adjective of Number or Numeral Adjective বলে। যেমন: I have two eyes.

•   Numeral Adjective দুই প্রকার: 1. Definite Numeral Adjective   2.  Indefinite Numeral Adjective.

1. Definite Numeral Adjective   : যে সব Numeral Adjective সুনির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যা নির্দেশ করে সেগুলোকে Definite Numeral Adjective বলে।

Definite Numeral Adjective  আবার তিন প্রকার:

a)  Cardinal  Numeral Adjective: One, two, three, four  ইত্যাদি । এগুলো কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যা নির্দেশ করে।

b)  Ordinal Numeral Adjective: First, Second, Third, Fourth  ইত্যাদি । এগুলো ক্রমানুসারে স্থান বা পর্যায় প্রকাশ করে।

c)  Multiple Numeral Adjective: Single, double, triple ইত্যাদি । এটি কোনো Noun কতবার রয়েছে তা বুঝায়।

2. Indefinite Numeral Adjective: যে সব Numeral Adjective অনির্দিষ্ট সংখ্যা নির্দেশ করে সেগুলোকে Indefinite Numeral Adjective বলে। All, some, enough, no, or, none, many, few, several, sundry ইত্যাদি  Indefinite Numeral Adjective হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

4.  Pronominal Adjective: যে Adjective Pronoun হতে গঠিত হয় তাকে Pronominal Adjective বলে।

Pronominal Adjective পাঁচ প্রকার:

1) Demonstrative

2) Interrogative

3) Distributive

4) Possessive

5) Relative

1. Demonstrative Adjective: যে Adjective কোন ব্যাক্তি বা বস্তুকে নির্দেশ করে তাকে Demonstrative Adjective বলে। যেমন: This pen is fine.

2. Interrogative Adjective : যে Adjective দ্বারা কোন প্রশ্ন করা হয় তাকে Interrogative Adjective বলে। যেমন: What is your name?

3. Distributive Adjective: যে Adjective দ্বারা কোন ব্যাক্তি বা বস্তুকে আলাদা আলাদা ভাবে বুঝায় তাকে Distributive Adjective বলে। যেমন: Every man has a house.

4. Possessive Adjective : যে Adjective এর সাহায্যে কোনো জিনিসগুলো কার বা অধিকার বলে দেয় তাকে Possessive Adjective বলে। যেমন: This is my pen.

5. Relative Adjective: যে Adjective এর সাহায্যে দুয়ের মধ্যে সম্পর্ক বুঝায় তাকে Relative Adjective বলে। যেমন: I gave him what pen he wanted.
